"Ponca Madonna" Ornament
30 % of all profits from this ornament will be donated to the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska.
Measuring 3 inches across, this high quality print is mounted on a flat acrylic ornament, covered in an epoxy layer and backed in velvet, and finished with a ribbon for hanging. Each ornament, in addition, is hand-painted with gold metallic detail.
About the painting; Inspired by the tradition of icons to focus spiritual practices, I created this painting of an indigenous mother and baby in colors and clothing inspired by the Ponca Tribe, one of the First People of the land I live on. The Madonna and Child have especially appealed to oppressed people because a mother with a baby is a universal symbol of the most vulnerable. I hope with this icon painting to connect people not to one specific religion, but with the Universal Truth of value and vulnerability which is at the core of meaning.
